Welfare Facilities


The object for which the association is established is to promote, through the comradeship engendered by its members, the welfare by charitable means of all serving and former members oh Her Majesty's Air Forces, their spouses and dependants, together with the widows and widowers and dependants of those who died whilst serving or subsenquently.

Residential Homes

Wexford House (Eagle Lodge)offer a caring, family-like enviroment for olderWexford House.PNG (80958 bytes) people. The warden helps residents to live independent lives but provideds meals and social support. it is based in Melton Mowbray.

 

Sussexdown is a residental home set in seven acres of grounds near storrington, West Sussex. The residents benifit from high standards of accomidation and support. Sussex down is now owened by Care South but residents are still ex RAF.

 

Sheltered Housing is heavily in demand and RAFA HQ maintain a waiting list based upon need. The resident wardens at each scheme are on hand to support our tenants. The developments are located at Moffat (Dumfries and Galloway), Storrington (West Sussex ) and at Rothbury in Northumberland. RAFA also have nomination rights at a futher scheme in Bolton, Lancashire.

Short Breaks

Family Apartment is designed to give younger families a quality break. The Malcolm Apartments at Flowerdown have fully self-catering facilities but support and help are at hand from the residential staff in the parent home including full catering if it is needed.

Hemsby Chalets near Great Yarmouth provide a seaside break for families in the traditional manner. While there is no welfare support immediatly on hand, the refurbished chalets can accommidate the needs of most guests.

General Welfare Assistance can be accesed via our own Welfare Officer or through the RAfA national network of volunteer welfare officers. RAFA can help with a wide range of welfare requests - from home and hospital visiting to support in the home by funding those things that Social Services have identified as being needed but will not fund. The local support RAFA provided enables our welfare teams to respond promptly to requsts for help and to accress the resources of the Association and others.
